This year was our first year of participating in a home school cooperative (co-op). We met once per week every Friday for the full day. The kids loved it because they got to hang out with a lot of their friends, learn new things, and get out of the house. I liked it because it kept me more accountable with my home schooling, I got to hang out with other home school moms, and I learned a lot, too! For history, we studied the Middle Ages from the Rise and Fall of Rome to the Renaissance. To top off our year, we hosted a Guild Night where the kids learned the art of barter/trade and an ancient craft of each parents choice. We were the Dairymen. We made homemade ice cream, butter, and provided milk and cheese. Some of the other crafters were Pastry, Jewelry, Blacksmith (providing swords and daggers), Leather, and Meat. It was really a fun night. There was a lot of different types of food for trade but no drink so needless to say, we came home with a lot of stuff because everyone wanted our milk! Our kids learned supply and demand first hand. The picture with the cow was our stand. What a great way to end our school year.
